Life Writers group coaching

Writing can feel like a lonely pursuit.

But what if you didn’t have to feel so alone?

Come together with a group of fellow non-fiction and memoir writers each month to share your work, cheer each other on and get peer support, as well as professional feedback.

Begins January 2022

What’s Included:

  • A monthly 2 hour online zoom call with a small group of fellow non-fiction and memoir writers

  • Written feedback on up to 2000 words per month from me

  • The opportunity to share your work with peers for support and feedback

  • The opportunity to discuss anything from publishing, agents and cover letters, to structure and style

  • Submit any work, including proposals, cover letters, chapters, essays and articles

  • Access to email support from me through out the month

  • Reduced rates on additional one to one support

Why choose group coaching?

One to one support is wonderful but something magical happens when groups of writers come together to support each other. Lots of writers face the same issues and have the same questions, and so much can be gained from listening, reading and contributing to the work of other writers.

Cost

£450 for 3 months or £165 monthly instalments

There is a minimum commitment of 3 months at a time, to minimise disruption to the group and allow relationships to build.

How to secure your spot

Places are by application only to ensure the group can meet your writing needs. To secure your spot either book a free call with me using the form below or email me.

FAQ

Who is the Life writers group suitable for?

This group is suitable for life writers, working on non-fiction or memoir, with some writing experience. You might be working on a book proposal or a memoir. You may be at the very beginning of a project, that you’re not exactly sure which direction it’s taking or deep into a manuscript and needing some support and feedback, help with researching the market, or a greater understanding of the publishing world.

Who it is not suitable for

This group is not for complete beginners who have never written before. It is not for writers working on fiction, poetry or screenwriting.

What if I can’t make the call?

The calls will always be recorded so you can watch later if you are unable to make it. You can also submit specific questions that Penny can address on the call or in written feedback.

What do I submit each month?

You can submit whatever you like. You may be needing feedback on a section of your proposal or sample chapter, an essay or a cover letter to an agent. If you are in the early stages of a writing a proposal or book, you may want to work your way through the Blueprint for a Book program that I work on with one to one clients.

Can I do the same work in a group that I would do one to one with you?

Yes! If you are needing support and guidance on what your book is about, how to structure it and where to begin, I can guide you through the Blueprint for a Book process which is the same process I use for one to one clients. Or you might have lots of specific questions around publishing, building your platform and authority as a writer and getting an agent, all of which I support one to one clients with. The difference is, in a group setting, you’ll be working alongside other writers doing the same. There is lots to be gained from supporting other writers, reading their work and listening to the questions they have.

What if I need more Written feedback?

This group includes a submission of up to 2000 words per month. If you need additional feedback - perhaps an evaluation of a full proposal, or a full memoir manuscript, or if you’d like additional calls to help you meet a looming deadline, you can book additional one to one support from me at a discounted rate (subject to my availability).

About your writing coach

After securing my own non-fiction book deal for Tender with a proposal written using some of the tools Author Accelerator recommend, I knew that I could trust their methods. I became a certified non-fiction book coach through Author Accelerator and now help other writers bring their big ideas together into book proposals and manuscripts that will help them stand out from the crowd. I also co-host the podcast Not To Busy To Write with fellow author Ali Millar, where we interview authors and talk about the challenges of writing amongst life’s many other demands.
