One to one Writing coaching

Many people dream of writing a book. But how do you make that dream a reality?

How do you take a great idea and all your knowledge and turn that into a book proposal that will be read with interest, when agents are receiving hundreds of submissions a week?

As a trained and qualified book coach, I will guide you through the process of really getting to the heart of your book and getting that on to the page.

You will come away with a full, industry standard book proposal, including sample chapters, marketing plan and detailed chapter outlines as well as a thorough understanding of the publishing industry and support around growing your authority and profile as a writer.

How can a writing coach help you?

  • Provide structure and accountability with regular deadlines so you write the proposal you’ve always wanted to write

  • In-line editorial feedback and comprehensive notes so that your proposal has the best chance of getting picked up by an agent

  • Zoom calls to talk through problems you’re facing, brainstorm together and bounce ideas around so you can talk the book out, instead of going in circles in your head

  • Support and advice around building your profile and authority as a writer so you’re in the best position you can be in when you go out on submission

  • Email support between deadlines so you don’t lose momentum or get stuck

  • Support with each element of the book proposal including sample chapters so your proposal meets the highest possible standard

I have two packages available, depending on the level of support you are looking for

The Get It Done Proposal Package - £750

You begin by starting the workbook I send you when you book your first session in. Your first submission will consist of the workbook, or a draft proposal (if you already have one). On our first call we will go over all the notes I have made and sent to you in advance and discuss every aspect of your book, from your reader, to competing titles, to really getting to the heart of what it is your book is about. We will then make a plan for how you are going to tackle the rest of the work in the proposal and set a date for the next submission. The second submission date will be a full draft of your proposal which I will give detailed notes on and discuss on our second call. On the second call we will discuss your next steps, redrafting and getting your proposal submission ready.

    What’s included:

  • Two submissions with full feedback and notes

  • Two coaching calls

  • Perfect for writers who already have a draft proposal and would like to polish it ready for submission to agents or for writers who want to tackle the draft themselves between submissions.

  • Workbook and individual guidance on the process of writing proposals

  • Can be taken over one month or split in half, with the second date of submission in the diary in advance to provide deadline and accountability

The Comprehensive Proposal Package - £1750

Do you need feedback on each aspect and draft of your proposal? This package allows for fortnightly submissions and calls over three months to get your proposal written and ready for submission to agents. You’ll begin with the workbook when you book your first submission date and we’ll meet fortnightly to tackle each and every aspect of the proposal. Each call we will make a plan for exactly what sections you’ll be working on next.

    What’s included:

  • Three months of fortnightly submissions and coaching calls

  • Full feedback and notes on 6 submissions

  • Perfect for writers who like regular deadlines and feedback at each step of the process

  • Regular calls and submissions to keep up momentum and finish your proposal to a high standard

  • Additional sessions can be booked if you would like support finding an agent

Writing Coaching IS FOR YOU IF:

  • You’re an expert in your field but you’ve never written a book before

  • You have plenty of ideas but need help organising them

  • You keep putting off starting the proposal because it’s overwhelming, even though you know it’s a great idea

  • You work best with deadlines, structure and accountability

  • You have a lot of experience writing (journalism/blogs/newsletters/speeches) but struggle with the idea of a larger project

How do I apply?

It is available by application only, so please email me to book a FREE 15 minute call with me to discuss whether it’s right for you. You’ll be asked to complete a form about you and your project, so that we can make the most of the time we have on our call.

Alternatively, if you’d like to dive straight in, you can book a Book Brainstorm and we can get started right away.
